Volunteer Programs at The Living Desert
ZooTeen Volunteer Program
ZooTeens must commit to working 12 hours per month plus volunteering at special events throughout the year, including one week-long session of Summer ZooCamp. This is a long-term, minimum one-year program.
ZooTeens work in the following areas:
ZONE 1: Tennity Wildlife Hospital and the new Discovery Center
ZONE 2: Palm Oasis habitat and Eagle Canyon
ZONE 3: African Village WaTuTu and in front of exciting exhibits, such as the cheetah!
Each area has interpretive stations. ZooTeens receive a comprehensive education, which they share every shift. Their breadth of knowledge will span from the very perfection of a hummingbird's wings, to our participation in Species Survival Plans, which impact endangered species around the globe.
ZooTeen Commitment:
To proudly represent The Living Desert to the community and to use your time and talents to carry out the mission statement of The Living Desert: "Desert conservation through preservation, education and appreciation." You have a unique opportunity to interact with the public, enabling them to appreciate desert habitats all over the world.
